We are very pleased to announce that we had a meeting with the NHS Harrogate and District Natural Health School yesterday.  As from January 2019 Shiatsu training will be offered at the Sir Robert Ogden Macmillan Centre at Harrogate hospital, courtesy of Carol Dean from the Northern School of Shiatsu!

The Natural Health School is the first NHS trust approved Complementary Therapy School in the UK:

  • NHS funded
  • NHS quality assured certificates in Complementary Therapy training
  • NHS placements for students
  • Free treatments for patients and carers affected by a cancer diagnosis
  • Evidence based which shows fantastic results already such as a reduction in prescriptions
  • Accredited training

This project has been so successful that the NHS Trust will shortly be expanding the service into other hospital departments such as maternity.

The School offer training that can be used with a wide range of clients, from those seeking general wellbeing to patients receiving care for complex health problems. Placements and work experience is offered in a variety of settings.

We would encourage all practitioners to sign up for a course.

There is strict criteria for both practitioners to train, and teachers to teach. We hope that more Shiatsu will be included in the future so please do not hesitate to contact us if you are interested.
